THE HISTORY OF A UNIQUE PLACE<\/h3><\/div>

In the 17th\u00e8me century, King Louis XIV<\/span> completed the conquest of Franche-Comt\u00e9 by taking Besan\u00e7on. He then entrusted Vauban<\/span> with the construction of the Citadel and the entire ramparts. During the construction period, Vauban often stayed in Besan\u00e7on and more particularly booked a room at the \u00ab Du Sauvage \u00bb inn, which was very famous at the time.<\/span><\/p>\n

The “Du Sauvage” renaissance pays tribute to the presence of Vauban in Besan\u00e7on and to the inscription of his work on the UNESCO World Heritage List.<\/p>\n

The place was occupied since the Middle Ages by the convent of the Minimes. It was then seized during the Revolution and its park sold in 1792. A mansion was built at the beginning of the 19th\u00e8me century. The Poor Clare Sisters settled there in 1854 and had a chapel built by the architect DUCAT in 1890.<\/p>\n

Today, and for more than ten years now, the establishment is managed by V\u00e9ronique and Philippe Mathieu.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
